ZELDA Brings Science Closer to Young Minds at BlueNIGHTs Torreira 2026

As part of BlueNIGHTs Torreira 2026, the ZELDA project’s partners from University of Aveiro, recently engaged students from 5th grade to high school in an interactive activity exploring the fascinating world of ecotoxicology.

The initiative introduced young participants to some of the organisms used in research by the RESET Research Group in Stress Ecology and Ecotoxicology at the University of Aveiro, whose work also contributes to the ZELDA project. Through hands-on activities, students discovered how these tiny organisms can help scientists assess the effects of contaminants on ecosystems and better understand environmental health.

By connecting scientific research with practical experiences, the activity offered students an engaging way to explore the role of ecotoxicology in environmental monitoring and protection.

Through initiatives like this, ZELDA and its partners are making science more accessible, fostering scientific curiosity among younger generations, and raising awareness of the importance of protecting our environment.
